How lucky was I to be referred to Mr Shaerf. He is a very kind, empathetic and knowledgeable surgeon. He takes time to completely explain all your options explaining pros and cons. Over the last 2 years he has released a trigger finger for me and replaced an arthritic joint in my thumb. The latter was the challenge and I could not be more impressed with Mr Shaerf's skill with this new and complex surgery. I cannot recommend Mr Shaerf enough to anybody requiring any kind of hand or wrist care. Aside from being an excellent surgeon and doctor, he is truly a caring individual.

I went Dr Shearf since I was having problems with my right hand fingers in February 2023 and he did his clinical consultation and said that I probably have karpal tunnel syndrome and and wanted EMG scan. I did the EMG scan and result came as “mild karpal tunnel”. Even though it was said that it is mild it was effecting my life quality - I am a banker, I am using computer and mouse all day and I struggled a lot to manage the mouse at work and I shared this with the Doctor and he said I may have steroid injections since it will 80% make the symptoms better, at least it will give a relaxation. However it didn’t help at all. I waited for some time to see if it is going to work but it didn’t, it got worse day by day. I went third time , July 2023, and asked specifically if it could be something else? Doctor said no and he said I need karpal tunnel operation but we couldn’t find common time to do it before my holiday. I came to holiday to Turkey and my wife wanted to check my condition with another doctor, luckily!! The new doctor immediately said “before doing any karpal tunnel operation we need to see if there is any other possible problems in spine especially in the neck area”. He wanted the MRI in firs instance and we found out that I have a huge tumour in my neck and it got huge, covers my three stage of spine (c3-c6) Now I need to have very risky surgery since tumour became so big. Who ever other doctors that we talked afterwards said that if someone has stubborn tingling and numbness in fingers it should be looked at carefully. Emg result was “mild” but my symptoms were not “mild” it was effecting my life quality. There were lots of red flags but doctor Shearf didn’t want to even think about other possible reasons. A simple MRI would have showed the real reason but he didn’t bother to ask for it. Now there are lots of risks for my surgery there are risks that I couldn’t use my hand / arm or may be even legs. I am not sure if I could be able to do my job! T. Kirbay

I wanted to take the time to write a review for this amazing doctor. After my teen son broke his wrist not long before he was due to take his GCSE exams - I reached out to several hand specialists and Mr Shaerf was the first to respond. In fact days later when the other surgeons started to get in contact with me - we had already met with Mr Shaerf. Mr Shaerf has continued to be speedy, accommodating, knowledgably and charming throughout. When my son first broke his wrist the NHS had put on a half cast and said the relevant fracture unit would replace this with a full cast in 3-4 days - but by the time the NHS contacted me two weeks later to put a full cast on my son...Dr Shaerf had already seen us, put a full cast on himself, organised an xray and a CT scan and then sorted a professional cast setter to put another cast on after my son unfortunately got the original wet in the rain. Mr Shaerf was also very sensitive to my son's upcoming exams making sure everything was done in a prompt manner and in a way to increase my son's chance to being able to write/type in his exams. He also offers late night appointments which have been handy so my son did not have to miss too much school. Don't bother looking elsewhere - contact Mr Shaerf first - he is a very dedicated and experienced surgeon and if you pardon the pun...you will be in save hands.

Dr Shaerf has been amazing, we can not thank him enough for the help and treatment received. My husband had a road accident in the summer with broken wrist bones; as it was not life threatening, he could not get immediate operation scheduled with NHS, and we were struggling to find any available surgeon in the area that we live. We found Dr Shaerf after expanding the search area and he was highly recommended by BUPA. Dr Shaerf immediately checked my husband situation, with the amazing and efficient help of his PA Karen, the operation was scheduled the next working day. Operation went so smoothly and successfully, it took off the physical and psychological pain from my husband, we simply could not thank him enough. The entire experience with Dr Shaerf was not only comfortable, every step of the procedures was explained clearly, organised efficiently, and my husband felt he was taken the best care of. Thank you!
